Introducing Montana Craft Malt’s European Malts

For the past four years we’ve been keenly focused on developing our European malt offering.  Through our network of barley breeders and growers, we’ve tested several heirloom Bavarian grains in Montana and its surrounding growing regions and come to find out, our regional climate provides an exceptional agronomic growing environment for these crops.  We’ve selected a few barley varieties as the basis for our European line – including Steffi and Francin –  and our exclusivity on these varieties means you won’t find them elsewhere in the US.  At a time when sourcing imported European malt is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive, we’ve got you covered with MCM’s European line.

Want to learn more about our European line, featuring Bavarian Steffi Pilsner, Munich, and Vienna?  Find information here.

Featured Collaboration

Whistlepunk releases its Steffi Pilsner. “German pale lager brewed with Steffi Pilsner malt and hopped with Mt. Hood. This beer is bright and refreshing, with notes of white wine, citrus, and spring flowers. The malt provides a crisp straw character.”

This malt starts with Identity Preserved Steffi Barley grown in Washington by Coldstream Malt and Grain, is malted by Montana Craft Malt in Butte, Montana, and is available on the West Coast through Linc Malt. Give it a try because you won’t find it anywhere else in the country!

Same Great Products with New Names

As our number of products has grown to a point where we have a robust product line, we’ve taken a fresh cut at our product names to better align with industry standards and incorporate appropriate descriptors (and remove irrelevant ones!).  But most importantly, to allow room for new products across our portfolio.

The same products simply have brand new names – you can expect the same great quality and consistency as always.

Covering Costs

Over the past few years, a lot has changed in our industry.  We’re dealing with unprecedented and extraordinary times – the pandemic hangover brought with it supply chain backlogs, labor shortages, drought, hyper-inflation.  It’s no picnic.  One thing that will never go away is really good beer.  Thank goodness.

In order to cover our hard costs, we will be adjusting prices for freight April 10, 2023.

Montana Craft Malt is committed to bringing our partners consistent, premium malts. We value your business and consider it a true privilege being your malt supplier.

Please reach out to your sales representative or email us at info@montanacraftmalt for specific information regarding price adjustments.

New Product Releases – Oats and Dextrin!

We’ll be releasing our first malted oats and dextrin products soon, available for brew trials.  Interested in testing our new products?  Send us a note at info@montanacraftmalt.com to get on our beta list.  Each brewery who tests will receive bomber new swag, while supplies last.
